Centers of Intelligence

The centers of intelligence, sometimes simply called the triads, are common to most teachings of the Enneagram personality types. The nine types are placed into three centers with three types in each center.

Types 8, 9 and 1 are said to be body-based.

Types 2, 3 and 4 are said to be heart-based.

Types 5, 6 and 7 are said to be head-based.

Although body-based, heart-based, and head-based are common labels for the centers, authors and teachers also use other labels.
